Multiple hospitalized, suspect shot in machete attack on Vancouver's Granville Street

Five people, including a suspect, were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a mass police rally in downtown Vancouver's main entertainment district on Saturday night. .

The incident began before 10:00 pm, according to a Vancouver Police statement.

Police were called to the scene by the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service around that time after a man set fire to a suite in a boarding house near the intersection of Granville and Smith streets, the VPD said. 7}

"The man then attacked and stabbed four people inside the building," police said in a statement.
