Genevieve Ring notes that Vernon-Monashee MLA Harwinder Sandhu is part of the NDP government that has let British Columbia residents down on COVID-19 and critical health care issues. It says it should be recalled.
Ring is not ready to wait for the next elections scheduled for the fall of 2024 to make changes to improve health care, she said.
Elections BC said in a statement that it had received a petition from Ring that met the requirements of the Recall and Initiatives Act and would issue the petition on August 11.
Sandhu said: Don't be intimidated by what she calls "a small group of extreme activists who don't represent the majority."
Vernon's Royal Jubilee before being elected in 2020 MLA, who worked as a registered nurse at the hospital, said it supports the government's decisions to keep residents and frontline workers safe during the pandemic.
"I have worked hard to passionately represent all the people of Vernon-Monashy. I am so proud of the people I represent that I will continue to do so every day." ' said Sandu. in a statement on Monday.
For the recall petition to be successful, Elections BC requires campaigners to collect signatures from his 40% of eligible voters, or her 21,268, by October 11. said there is a need.
Previously, none of her 26 petitions had been approved since the law came into force in her 1995, but none led to the MLA recall. There is none.
"There must be some obligation they feel to the people they are supposed to represent, and she is doing nothing," said Ring, referring to Sandu. I think NDP has been failing all these years, and she's part of it.”
