Edmonton — The Edmonton Oilers say they are mourning the death of Ben Stelter. Ben Stelter is a 6-year-old boy with cancer whose Western team has rallied for his conference finals.
Stelter's father, Mike Stelter, said in a tweet that his son died Tuesday night.
Ben Stelter was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor, before his fifth birthday.
He appeared in several games and was a visible part of the Oilers playoffs his run. The Oilers continued their 10-game home winning streak at one point with Stelter in attendance.
"We mourn the loss of our dear friend, number one Oilers fan, lucky charm and inspiration, Ben Stelter," the Oilers said in a statement Wednesday. .
"Though small in stature, Ben has made a huge impact on our team and community."
