Ontario reports 1,746 new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,746 new cases of COVID-19 today, and seven new deaths due to the virus.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 622 new cases are in Toronto, 390 are in Peel Region and 217 cases in York Region.

The province says it has conducted 39,406 tests since the last daily report.

In total, 618 people are hospitalized in the province due to COVID-19, including 168 in intensive care.

The province is also reporting that 108 people are in ventilators in hospital.

The latest figures bring the total of COVID-19 cases in Ontario to 116,492, with 3,656 deaths, and 98,639 cases resolved.
