Minneapolis (AP) — Authorities evacuated part of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis on Thursday after responding to reports of possible fires and explosions.

No injuries were reported immediately.

The Minneapolis Fire Department tweeted around 3:30 pm. The firefighter was responding to a fire in the basement of the campus building. As they extinguished the fire, they received reports of a sewer explosion that blew off the manhole cover.

Authorities are monitoring the building for natural gas leaks and have evacuated parts of the campus. The fire department tweeted that the incident was likely an outflow of flammable gas rather than natural gas in the sewer.

Voicemail messages left at the fire department were not returned immediately.
