Passenger killed in single-vehicle accident on Coquihalla Highway

The RCMP say one person is dead following in a single-vehicle accident on the Coquihalla Highway Sunday night.

The accident, which closed Highway 5 for several hours, occurred around 5 p.m.

Mounties say a southbound vehicle with three occupants lost control, left the roadway and rolled. One of the passengers died after being ejected from the vehicle.

The driver and another passenger suffered what police said were non-life threatening injuries.

The RCMP, who continue to investigate the accident, do not believe alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.

Mounties are asking for any witnesses who drove through the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services to contact Fraser Valley traffic services at 604-702-4039 and quote file 2018-22119.

No names have been released.
