Police were investigating Monday night after shots were reported at a park at Foster Farm in the Britannia area.
One witness who asked not to be identified said she was at the park with her two small children when she saw some teens and heard shooting sounds.
She thought the noises were fireworks until she saw that each shot was accompanied by an impact on the ground. One of the teens had an object in his hand, but it did not appear to be fireworks, said the woman.
“I grabbed my baby and I started yelling for my three-year-old,” she said.
“My three-year-old was hiding under the play structure and I was screaming her name and she started to cry and she got out and she ran, but she ran towards the shooters.”
The woman said she ran to her daughter, put both of the children into a stroller and ran home.
The woman, who reported hearing at least three to five shots, said she saw two teenaged boys and a young man, approximately 19 or 20 years old.
Foster Farm is bounded by Richmond Road, Pinecrest Road and the Queensway.
As of Monday at 9 p.m., police confirmed that there was an investigation, but did not release any details. Paramedics said they were not called to the scene.
