The Special Investigations Unit investigated the death of a 28-year-old woman. I'm here. An elderly man whose car struck a utility pole on Dilworth Road in the southern Ottawa countryside on Tuesday night.
According to preliminary information, the driver was being pursued by officers from the Ontario Police who were conducting radar enforcement in the area of Highway 416. Watchdog said Wednesday.
Authorities said officers spotted the speeding vehicle around 10:42 pm. I followed it before breaking the chase. The SIU said police found the vehicle after it hit a power pole.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday.
Three investigators and her one forensic investigator were assigned to the case.
SIU asked anyone with information, including videos and photographs, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online.
Unit civilian investigators will examine Ontario police actions that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault, or firing of firearms at persons.
