LOS ANGELES — Rap musician A$AP Rocky pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two counts of felony assault with a firearm in connection with the November shooting of a former friend in Hollywood.
Rocky, 33, appears in a Los Angeles courtroom and stands next to his attorney.
According to a statement by Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon, prosecutors said: Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Meyers, allegedly pointed a semi-automatic pistol at the man during a "hot debate."
During the ensuing run-in, Rocky drew his handgun and he fired twice at the man who sustained minor injuries, the statement said.
In August 2019, Rocky was given a suspended sentence for his involvement in a brawl in Stockholm.
The rapper and his two members of his entourage were found guilty of kicking and hitting a 19-year-old man after an argument. They told the court they acted in their own defense.
