Red Sox Places LHP Rich Hill (Knees) on IL for 15 Days

The Boston Red Sox sprained his left knee on Saturday and put left-handed Rich Hill on the 15-day injured list.

Hill, 42, was injured during the start of the match against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. He was sent off in the 5th inning and hit 3 runs and 3 hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Hill is 4-4 and ERA is 4.20 at the start of 15 times this season.

The 18-year-old veteran is 78-56, 3.82 ERA in 339 games (210 starts) for 11 teams. He is currently on his third mission at the Red Sox.

Boston recalled right-handed Phillips Valdéz from Triple A Worcester in a corresponding move.

Valdes, 30, was 0-1 and scored 5.40 ERA in the Red Sox's 11 relief appearances earlier this season. He has played 74 reliefs in the Texas Rangers (2019) and the Red Sox over four seasons and is 3-2 with 4.70 ERA.
