Highland Park — Rooftop shooters fired at a parade on Monday at a wealthy Highland Park on the outskirts of Chicago, killing six people and injuring at least 20, officials said.
Officials said at a news conference that six people had died, 24 were taken to the hospital and rifles were recovered from the scene.
Police were looking for a white man, believed to be about 18 to 20 years old, and asked the general public for tips to help him find him. Police said the first report suggested he fired from the roof.
"Our community has been terrorized by violence that shakes our hearts. During this devastating time, our hearts are the families of the victims. "It will be directed to," Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotelling said at a press conference.
