Russia sanctioned 43 Canadians on Monday and banned them from entering the country in response to western sanctions in Moscow.
The list released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs included Suzanne Cowan, chairman of the Liberal Party of Canada, and Mark Carney, a former governor of the Bank of England and the Bank of Canada.
In April, Moscow sanctioned 61 Canadian officials and journalists. It has banned dozens of other Western politicians, journalists, and business figures from entering Russia. (Report by Reuters, edited by Gareth Jones)
