The Saanich officer was greeted by his family and officers from the Saanich Army and Victoria Emergency Response Team.
"Today is a very special, heartwarming and moving day because one of our wounded officers has returned home to continue to heal and gain strength surrounded by his loving family.
The inner strength, determination and grit of the officers inspire all Saanich police staff and community members, Duthie said.
Six emergency response team officers were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
Saanich's officer is still hospitalized and "continues to make progressive improvements day by day," said Mr Dacy.
"The extraordinary care, compassion and professionalism of the [Royal Jubilee Hospital] medical staff, nurses, doctors and surgeons who have assisted and guided our healing of our ailments. I am very grateful to Rhythm, officers to this day.”
Two men entered the Montreal Bank on Shelbourne Street on June 28 and asked the manager to take them to the vault. I ordered. No one was injured in the bank.
Shooting began as the men left the branch. Police shot dead two of his suspects, brothers from Lake Shawnigan. A video captured by a bystander shows police officers running toward the bank as gunshots resound.
Emergency response teams were in the area and responded to reports of bank robberies in vans. Photos from the scene show a van riddled with bullet holes.
The Vancouver Island Consolidated Serious Crimes Unit conducts investigations similar to British Columbia's Independent Investigative Service, which investigates all incidents of injury or death involving police.
A fundraising page launched by the City of Victoria Police Union and Saanich Police Association to help recover injured police officers has raised nearly $277,000 from over 1,400 donations.
