Cairo — According to Egypt's Ministry of the Environment, two women were killed in a shark attack in the Red Sea of ​​Egypt, south of Hurghada.

Two sources told Reuters that the body of a Romanian tourist in his late 40s was found hours after the attack, which killed a 68-year-old Austrian woman. Both attacks occurred off the coast of Sahl Hasheesh within 600 meters of each other, according to sources.

The ministry said in a statement that a committee was formed to investigate the situation of the attack and the scientific reasons behind it.

Also, Maj. Gen. Amuru Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, said he had ordered to suspend all activities in the area surrounding the attack.

The first victim was transferred to a local private hospital, a source from the Red Sea Health Department told Reuters. He added that there was an attempt to resuscitate her, but she died of an injury.
