Senior pedestrian hospitalized after cars collide in St-Simon

A car running a stop sign collided with a second vehicle, which in turn struck the pedestrian, according to the Sûreté du Québec.

A woman in her 70s is in hospital in critical but stable condition after being struck a car Sunday afternoon in St-Simon in the Montérégie region.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, a motorist travelling on Route 116 apparently failed to halt at a stop sign at the intersection of Route 211. His car collided with a second vehicle, which spun around at least once and struck the pedestrian, who was walking on the roadside.

The driver of the first vehicle was uninjured; the driver of the second was taken to hospital with minor injuries, provincial police said.

Police were called around 1 p.m. Sunday and their investigation is continuing.
