Allen, Ky. (AP) — Several police officers were shot dead and injured while trying to serve Warrant in eastern Kentucky on Thursday, officials said.
The suspect was detained and at least one died, Floyd County Security Officer John Hunt told WYMT-TV. The security officer's department described the shooting as "fatal" in a Facebook post earlier on Friday, but did not provide details.
Hunt told local media that the suspect had fired at an agent who had provided a court-issued letter Thursday night in connection with the situation of domestic violence.
Governor Andy Bescher described the episode as "a situation of a barricade with shooting" in a brief statement on Twitter.
Hunt said several police officers were taken to various hospitals in the area.
