'I knew from the jump that all good things must come to an end'
Tim & Friends host Tim Micallef has announced that his popular Sportsnet talk show is coming to an end after a two-year run.
After first launching as Tim & Sid on Sportsnet 590 The Fan in 2011 alongside Sid Seixeiro, Micallef and Seixeiro made the jump to afternoon television in 2015. When Seixeiro left in 2021 to join Breakfast Television as its morning co-host, the show was rebranded as Tim & Friends.

“I could not be happier for Sid as he embarks on this new phase of his career,” Micallef said at the time. “We have had a unique partnership for almost 20 years, and while I will miss his candor, encyclopedic sports knowledge and often unbridled passion, I know this is the right next step for him.”
“I knew from the jump that all good things must come to an end, but that doesn’t make this any less bittersweet,” Micallef said on Monday’s episode as he announced the show’s cancellation. “Tim & Friends is going off the air and I’m moving over to an exciting new project at Sportsnet Central where we’ll continue to do really good stuff.”
Micallef called the job “a good thing” and thanked the team that helped him put on the show five days a week.
“I really just want to say thank you,” Tim & Friends digital producer Jesse Rubinoff said. “It has been an immense thrill to be able to talk sports with someone who I was and remain a huge fan … So thank you.”
The Toronto Blue Jays home opener on April 11 will mark the final episode of the show with Micallef set to continue with the outlet as part of their team covering the Stanley Cup playoffs.
“As the world of sports media continues to evolve, I have been asked to innovate every step of the way from this rinky-dink podcast to a national TV show that you see in front of you right now,” Micallef said. “We, this great group, have been poised with the task of innovating again, this time with the Sportsnet Central crew and they’re a very talented group. I hope that you will join us for the next incarnation starting at the beginning of the [Stanley Cup] playoffs.”
