Storm drop triple figures on Dream

Jewell Loyd scored a season-high-tying 20 points and Alysha Clark added a season-high 16 points, leading the Seattle Storm to a 100-63 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday night at Bradenton, Fla.

Sami Whitcomb also contributed 20 points off the bench for the Storm, who have the best record in the WNBA at 8-1. They also have the league’s longest active winning streak at six games after their highest scoring output of the season.

Atlanta (2-7) has the league’s longest losing streak, also at six games.

Seattle withstood a rare poor shooting night by Breanna Stewart, who was the league’s MVP in 2018 when she led the Storm to their third WNBA championship. On Wednesday, Stewart had a game-high nine rebounds but managed just seven points, shooting 1-for-5 from the floor in 24 minutes. She has been Seattle’s leading scorer in seven of its nine games this season.

With Stewart off, the Storm relied on Loyd, a two-time All-Star and the league’s first overall selection in 2015; and Clark, a former second-round pick known primarily known for her defense. Loyd made 7 of 10 shots from the floor, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range. Clark made 7 of 9 attempts from the floor.

Seattle also got nine points and seven assists from point guard Sue Bird and a game-high 10 assists from her backup, Jordin Canada.
