Stockholm — Swedish prosecutors said Thursday that a man detained for murdering a woman at a political festival on Wednesday appeared to have acted alone and targeted her.
A woman was stabbed to death on Gottland at a political festival held just two months before the national election.
"There is information that he is suffering from a mental illness and did the act while under the influence of the drug," prosecutor Petra Gotel said at a press conference.
"In our view, the deceased woman is the perpetrator's intended target, due to her official profile and her long-term involvement in psychiatric issues in Sweden. Maybe, "Gotel said.
