Tennis legend Serena Williams out of National Bank Open with Canadian Swan Song

Serena Williams played her last match in Canada.

The greatest tennis player of all time is the National Bank in the second round of her Open Women's Tournament, where Belinda of Switzerland lost her 6-2, 6-4 to Bencic.

Williams, who will turn 41 this September, announced her intention to retire at the end of the season on Tuesday.

She received three big rounds of applause before her match with Bencic began. The sold-out crowd at her stadium in Toronto's Sobies was clearly in favor of Williams.

After her victory, Bencic said it was always an honor to play Williams and Wednesday night was all about her.

Williams appeared to keep her typical form early on and she scored the first points of the match with an ace. The American won her second game early on, but she couldn't keep up with No. 12 seed Bencic, who stepped forward to win the first set.

In the second set, Bencic and Williams tied her 3-3, but the Swiss player continued to win. Serving to stay in the match, Williams pumped up his fist and yelled to the delight of the partisan crowd when Bencic's botched return made him 5-4.

Williams hit a long ball on her points in the match, ending the match and her playing time in Canada. She is expected to officially end her career after her US Open, which starts on August 29th. 24}
