Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia left with "mixed feelings" after reaching the WTA 1000 semifinals at the Cincinnati Open for the first time in four years.

Garcia qualified in Cincinnati. defeated seventh seed Jessica Pegula 6-1 7-5 on Friday to set up a best-of-four match against Arena Sabalenka.

She climbed up to her 4th place in the world rankings in 2018. Her 35th place was pleased with her recent form, but she was at the highest level. She said it's not easy to perform consistently.

"Yeah, I always have mixed feelings because when you do something bad, people forget about you very quickly, and they don't know what you did in the past. Because you forget," Garcia, the reigning French Open doubles champion, told reporters.

``As soon as you have two wins in a row under your belt and you can play better tennis, it's like being a top star again.

"Obviously, past experience has helped me manage, make good decisions, and maintain a good mindset to keep going." I think it will help.”

Garcia, who has won two titles this season, defeated world No. 3 Maria Sakkari earlier in the week.

She added that playing the qualifiers was tough, but the extra games gave her confidence for the rest of the season.

"The qualifiers aren't easy... I had to play a lot of matches, which is good for me because it gives me confidence that our hard work is paying off, because I always try to be as easy as possible and good for my feet. I was able to go to the court by feeling.”
