Montreal police on Wednesday announced they had arrested three suspects in connection with a 2021 homicide in Town of Mount Royal that saw an 18-year-old man gunned down at a Christmas Eve house party.

Two of the suspects, 20-year-old men, are expected to appear in court Wednesday afternoon to face a charge of second-degree murder. A 20-year-old woman will face a charge of being an accessory after the fact.

The arrests were carried out in Montreal. One of the male suspects was already in custody in connection with a different offence, police said.

The arraignments mark the close of an investigation that began on Dec. 24, 2021. Police said there were about 15 people at a house party on Trenton Ave. when, around 1:40 a.m., a group of uninvited individuals showed up and ordered the victim to head outside. The victim refused, an altercation ensued and police allege one of the suspects pulled a gun and shot the 18-year-old at point-blank range.

The suspects fled the scene in a car and the victim was taken to hospital, where he was later declared dead.

It was the 36th recorded homicide of the year on the island of Montreal.
