Kyle Lowry vs. Malcolm Brogdon

This game within the game matchup dates to Brogdon’s days in Milwaukee when the Raps and Bucks would hook up in the post-season; Milwaukee was unwilling to fork over the bucks, opening the door for the Pacers to sign this calming presence who seems to always play well against the Raptors; Brogdon came up big in OT Friday night in leading Indy to its win over the Orlando Magic; “I like to take big shots,” he said. “I trust myself. I took the shot. It wasn’t a set call.” Brogdon’s 23-point night would lead the Pacers; Lowry sat out Toronto’s win over the Heat because of a toe infection; the Raptors were given Saturday off, but head coach Nick Nurse felt in the hours leading up to Friday night’s tip that he expected Lowry to be back in the lineup for Sunday’s matinee; he’s 14 points shy of joining Chris Bosh and DeMar DeRozan on the Raptors’ 10,000 scoring club; Lowry didn’t have his jumper going when the Heat beat the Raptors Wednesday night.

Scouting Report

Not surprisingly, the style of play Indy wants to play and at times shows it can play mirrors the Raptors, who would witness the departure of Nate Bjorkgren when the Pacers were in the market for a new head coach; Sunday marks the first coaching matchup pitting Bjorkgren against good friend Nick Nurse; Indy has more size than the Raptors, but the first of a back-to-back set between these two figures to be good; once some injured players get the green light to return, the Pacers will feature some quality wings to complement the likes of Myles Turner and Domantis Sabonis in the frontcourt; Jeremy Lamb is back from a knee setback, while recent acquisition Caris LeVert (kidney), acquired in that blockbuster from Brooklyn that sent Victor Oladipo to Houston and T.J. Warren (foot) remain sidelined with neither expected back anytime soon.

Did You Know

Lamb and Turner each scored 22 points, while Sabonis contributed 18 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in Indy’s win over the Magic … Turner, who had missed the past two games with a right hand injury, started cramping in the fourth quarter; ‘’It was frustrating not being out there in OT, but I think it was for the better,’’ he said … ‘’Our guys didn’t quit,’’ Bjorkgren said of a game that featured 17 lead changes. “They found themselves down in the fourth and found themselves down in overtime and kept coming back. The game was full of highs and lows.’’
