NEW YORK — Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday refused to answer questions as he appeared before the New York State Attorney General in a civil investigation into his family's business practices.
}"I refused to answer questions about the rights and privileges accorded to all citizens under the United States Constitution," Trump said in a statement.

James made an important claim that the Trump Organization, which manages hotels, golf courses, and other real estate, overvalued properties in order to obtain favorable loans and undervalued them in order to receive tax breaks.
Trump denied wrongdoing and said the New York investigation was politically motivated. James is a Democrat.
Separately, in an escalation of a federal investigation into whether President Trump, who is leaving office in January 2021, illegally removed records from the White House, the FBI announced on Monday that President Trump in Florida would searched his mansion.
Mr. Trump has publicly tussled over whether he will run for president again in 2024, but he has not explicitly said if he will.
The warrant to search Trump's Florida mansion is linked to the National Archives and Records Administration, which is responsible for protecting the president's records. Palm Beach, Florida, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Mr. Trump has resigned after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and failed to bid to overturn his election loss. I had to deal with legal issues. Trump continues to make false claims that the election was stolen through widespread voter fraud.
