Two men aged 27 and 41 are expected to face drug-trafficking charges Friday in the wake of raids in Longueuil and Sorel that saw police seize a stockpile of drugs that included 35,000 capsules of methamphetamine.

Longueuil police said the raids, carried out Thursday, were triggered by a tip from the public. Apart from the methamphetamine, officers seized $26,000 in cash, a handgun, 1.95 kilograms of cocaine, a collection of non-prescription drugs, a “small” quantity of hashish as well as two motor vehicles.

The total value of the items seized is estimated at more than $625,000. Investigators say that both suspects are known to police.
