Vancouver police officer charged with assault

Const. Riley Emerson Robert Wiens was charged with assault in connection with a working case on March 20, 2021.

Vancouver police officers assault after an incident in the suburbs of Vancouver Last spring, when he was accused of charges, he was in a police station prison.

B.C. The Prosecutor's Office has charged the Const with assault. Riley Emerson Robert Wiens was associated with a working case involving an individual in Vancouver on March 20, 2021.

According to the Independent Investigation Bureau, police officers and men were outside the prison on East Cordoba Street at around 8:40 pm. That day. The man fell to the ground and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

The IIO closed the investigation after confirming that the injuries suffered by the man did not meet the serious harm threshold. Supervisors will only investigate police-related incidents that lead to serious harm or death.

Wiens won the award in 2021 for evacuating residents of a building in Vancouver and confining themselves and residents in a suite to crush a suspect who set fire. He is one of the three dozen officers. 

Wiens will appear in the Vancouver District Court on August 15th.
