Police responded to the popular Scarborough dispensary after a firearm discharge inside the store. As Const. Cindy Chung reported, it was a call for a “person with a gun” and later a “firearm discharge.”

At the scene, photographer Jack Boland spoke to witnesses, who said one man came in and placed his marijuana order before a second approached him.

“They seemed to know each other,” said a witness. “They gave each other a fist bump.”

However, seconds later, the two men were in a wrestling match. Staff tried to intervene and when a “loud bang” echoed through the store. As people ducked, a bullet struck the floor and ricocheted into a cabinet.

“The gun landed on the floor,” said a witness. “Staff hid themselves in the vault where the product is kept.”

The two men fled.

So what went down here?

A robbery that gone wrong? A disagreement over using a gun in the robbery? A potential hit, with the target managing to save his life?

Detectives are on it.

Meanwhile, A piece of black tape covering a bullet hole in the floor was the only clue that something happened when the store opened for business on Monday.
