Anchorage, Alaska (AP) — After the wind approached Clearfire, evacuation orders were issued to people living in about 45 homes in a parcel near the community in the interior of Alaska.

The fire is burning near the Anderson community, about 81 miles (130 km) southwest of Fairbanks. The city of Anderson itself has not received an evacuation order.

However, people in the nearby Kobe Ag, Quota, and Anderson districts were told to leave the house after the fire came within 3 miles (4.83 km) of the Alaska Forestry Department. Spokesman Sam Harrel said.

On Tuesday, lightning broke out about 7 square miles (18 square kilometers) of fire. A mixture of tundra, brushes, hardwoods and black spruce is burning.

The situation on Friday included higher temperatures and winds than expected, so the fire was approaching fragmentation. The situation on Saturday was similar, officials said.

The Denali Autonomous Region has set up shelters at Healy's Tri-Valley School south of Anderson and Nenana City School north of Anderson.
