A woman literally took matters into her own hands when climate change activists staged a protest by blocking traffic in Germany last week.

In a video posted to social media by Last Generation, a group of climate change activists mostly active in Germany, Italy, and Austria, a woman is seen grabbing the hair of a female protester and dragging her to the side of the road while lecturing the activist in the western German city of Bottrop.

Achtung Gewalt:

The activist got up to continue her protest but she was pushed to the curb by another person. She returned to the road yet again and sat down in front of stopped vehicles before the same woman pulled her off the road by her hair a second time.

In the video, other activists can be seen being dragged away by their arms before they ran back onto the road and sat down to continue their protest.

“Are we the ones who should be targeted when we peacefully take to the streets to draw attention to the fact that civilization is sinking into climate catastrophe?” the group said on Twitter.

Local police said climate activists were taken into custody. They are also looking at video to see if charges are necessary for those who dragged the protesters off the road, reports Fox News.

The group has shared videos of recent protests where drivers have gotten out of their vehicles and berated the activists.

Some activists have gone to the extreme by gluing their hands to the pavement, and have to be removed from the road by the fire department who chip away at the asphalt.

Also last week, members of the group blocked plane traffic for hours at airports in Hamburg and Dusseldorf after gluing themselves to areas near runways, German news outlet DW reported.

Transport Minister Volker Wissing accused the group of contributing to divisions in society by “ruining the well-earned and long-looked-forward-to annual vacations of others.”
