Your commute: Crash squeezes early Highway 174 traffic, new construction closures

An early-morning crash was putting the squeeze on downtown bound traffic in Orléans Tuesday morning.

The collision on westbound Highway 174 reduced the highway to one lane from Champlain Street to Jeanne D’Arc Boulevard as rush hour got underway.

“Expect delays,” the city’s traffic centre warned motorists. No kidding.

If you’re taking the O-Train Line 1, “service is running well at this time,” OC Transpo reported at 7:30 a.m.

Watch for two new spots with road closures starting this week due to construction.

On Highway 174, expect intermittent lane and ramp closures during off-peak hours between Blair and Trim roads until end of February to get ready for the Stage 2 Confederation Line east extension.

Montreal Road, meanwhile, is reduced to one lane at the intersection of Montreal and North River roads. South of Montreal Road, southbound North River Road is also closed. These closures in preparation for the Montreal Road Revitalization Project are in place until Feb. 14. Detours are in place.
