CEO of Digicel Dominica Victor Kovacs

Telecommunications company Digicel-Dominica has contributed $251,000 towards the staging of the 23rd edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) scheduled for October 27-29, 2023.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digicel Dominica, Victor Kovacs, made the presentation during a WCMF press conference held at the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) office in Roseau on Wednesday.

“This year’s contribution is substantial and we were very pleased that our marketing team [has] sharpened their pencils and put together something that we believe will be impactful,” he said.

According to Kovacs, the company will be hosting its business and government customers in its VIP box there.

“Expect a fantastic turnout for that, and during the course of the month we will be working alongside yourselves with promoting not only the event but also providing Digicel services to our customer base,” he stated. “We are so proud to present our support for the community and the country of Dominica.”

Meanwhile, Marketing Assistance of Digicel Dominica, Sabrina Royer, said over the past 12 years Digicel has invested over $8 million towards the WCMF.

“Today, Digicel further aligns with its commitment to go beyond advanced technologies and continues to support Dominica’s unique culture and heritage through celebration of independence and the World Creole Music Festival,” she stated. “We have committed to this event for over 12 years and that is an investment of over 8 million dollars and more. Across these years, we have witnessed the World Creole Music take infant steps seeing its growth and today we witness the maturity level as attendees continue to grow.”

Royer stated also that last year the event saw over 30,000 attendees across three nights, “and we know that this will continue to evolve this year and [in] years to come.”

She revealed that soon, Digicel will launch an independent campaign that solidifies the company’s love for Dominica’s culture.

“Our aim is to give back and to give more to Dominica,” she noted.
