IT was smiles all round as Arsenal picked up a welcome three points over Newcastle.
After a poor first period, a quickfire double from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe handed Mikel Arteta's side the win, with Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette wrapping up the 4-0 victory late on.
And SunSport's Jack Figg rated record-signing Pepe as Arsenal's star man.
Jack gave Pepe a 9/10 and explained: “The Ivorian reacted well after Arteta admitted he was suffering from confidence issues.
“He produced a great cross for Aubameyang’s opener, coolly finished for his goal and set up Lacazette at the end.”
Gunners skipper Aubameyang revealed before the game that an Ian Wright pep talk has inspired him going forward.
Aubameyang said: “I spent quite a lot of time with Ian Wright.
“It’s always a pleasure to see him and to chat to him. He is an icon and inspiration for me and everyone at the club and around the club.
“I admire him as a man and as an Arsenal legend. He was so, so good on the pitch but also really chilled.”
And club legend Wright had plenty to say on Unai Emery – slamming the Spaniard's tenure at the club.
He said: “Whatever he [Emery] says the players weren't happy, there wasn't a vision or direction, the communication was poor.”
And Arsenal have called up former star Santi Cazorla to ask about the situation surrounding his Villarreal teammate Samuel Chukwueze.
The Nigerian has been impressing with the Yellow Submarine, with four goals and four assists this season.
