Arteta hints Arsenal will try to sign more than just a defender in transfer market but rates chances at just ’50-50′

ARSENAL may try to sign more than just a defender this month, according to Mikel Arteta.

Calum Chambers, Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac are all out injured and the Gunners are in desperate need of defensive cover.

Sokratis is unwell and David Luiz is also suspended after being sent-off at Chelsea so the situation is looking quite grim for Arteta.

Luckily Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding have recently returned to the fold after their own layoffs.

But the Spaniard is still looking for reinforcements.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's trip to Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Monday, Arteta said: "We've been looking at different positions.

"Since I joined we lost Calum and we had other circumstances and injuries in those positions so its true at the back we are short.

"But other positions as well depending what happens in the market that we might need to asses.

"At the moment I am 50-50."

Arsenal have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa.

And SunSport also compiled a list of potential replacements for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the striker reportedly agreed to join Barcelona.
