Coronation Street fans were expecting more of a fanfare for Kate Connor as she said farewell to the cobbles.

Kate, played by Faye Brookes, had a quiet toast in the Rovers with her loved ones before heading off travelling to Singapore, leaving the door open for her return.

And some viewers were unimpressed with her quiet exit.

"Is this seriously her exit? it is boring and dreadful," said one viewer.

"Didn't even see her going away in a taxi.." commented another.

"Is that it really? Kate's big exit?" wondered another Corrie watcher.

Kate's dad Johnny gave an emotional speech

"Kate deserves a better exit then that," tweeted another disappointed viewer.

But other viewers were too busy being sad.

"Actually really going to miss her about on the street," said one Kate fan.

"Good luck Kate you deserve the best and hope you find happiness," cheered another.

Faye debuted on the cobbles four years ago

"Farewell Kate, happy travels," said another.

Waitress Kate has been through a devastating time on the street and looking forward to new beginnings after the tragic death of her fiancee Rana Habeeb.

Nurse Rana died on their wedding day in the collapse of the Underworld factory in March after it was sabotaged by villainous Gary Windass.

Guilty Gary secretly left £1,000 to Kate - and it looked like his game was up when she found out he was the mystery benefactor and demanded to know where the cash had come from. But he lied and said it had come from his rich friend who wanted to help after everything she's been through.

Faye, from Flixton, told her Instagram followers that she was ready to 'spread her wings' and is excited about the future after leaving the soap.

Faye announced the shock news that she was leaving the show after four years in April.

She tweeted: "Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after 4 fabulous years in Weatherfield it's time for me to explore new opportunities, I've loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I'm off to pastures new. #corrie."
