A diesel spill has left Half Moon Bay in Heysham in a state of ruin.
Lancaster City Council has been left dealing with the spillage which is believed to have occurred at some point this morning (December 22).
A concerned member of the public noticed the fuel this morning and reported the incident to the council.
Council officers are now on scene with the coastguard and a contractor has been called to clean it up.
A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council told LancsLive: "There has been a diesel spill.
"We are on the scene with the coastguard.
"It happened sometime this morning. We has a report from a member of the public.
"We are checking it out with the coastguard and are waiting for a contractor to come and clean it up."
Visitors of Half Moon Bay today have reported that the spillage has result in the area 'reeking of fuel'.
It is not yet known what has caused the fuel spillage.
