Brands reacts as Everton sign highly-rated defender from Marseille

Everton have signed versatile defender Niels Nkounkou from Ligue 1 side Marseille on a free transfer.

The teenager has joined Carlo Ancelotti’s side on a three-year contract and Marcel Brands believes that the youngster has plenty to offer in the future.

Nkounkou has the ability to play in a range of positions on the left, either in midfield or defence, and Brands has paid testament to the 19-year-old .

“Niels is a young, talented player with good technical and physical skills,” Marcel Brands said. “We have been following him for months.

“Hopefully he can learn a lot from Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines, as well as Carlo Ancelotti and David Unsworth, and follow the same pathway into the first team the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Mason Holgate have taken in recent years.”

Rangers forward linked with Goodison Park move

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been speculatively earmarked as a possible transfer target for the Toffees.

Morelos has been a key part of Steven Gerrard’s squad over the past couple of years but Everton could come calling for the goalscorer, according to Area Napoli .

The 24-year-old is contracted with Rangers until 2023. He has registered 15 goal contributions in 26 league games this season.

2020/21 home kit release date confirmed in teaser video

Everton’s 2020/21 home kit will be released on Friday after new kit supplier hummel showed off a teaser to fans .

The club’s deal with hummel will be a club-record partnership, as announced back in May , and the brand will also supply match, training and official leisure wear.

As with any announcement of new kits, supporters will be eager to see what their side will be wearing next season but Evertonians won’t have to wait much longer.

Hummel shared a teaser video on social media on Thursday which announced the home kit will be released on Friday.
