An 'explosion' at RAF Welford has sent a huge clouds of smoke into the sky above the M4.
Motorists driving past the site near Boxford, Berkshire, saw a fire raging from what is believed to the munition dump at the base.
The base is currently under the command of the 420th Munitions Squadron and the 501st Combat Support Wing.
