Fire damaged Falkirk house at Lock 17 goes on sale for £195k

A severely fire damaged detached Falkirk house - and once restaurant - with a 'charming canalside view' has gone on the market for £195,000.

The former Underwood Lockhouse, which is situated on Seabegs Road, Bonnybridge, also comes with its own carpark.

It's been listed on property site Zoopla and been described as a 'rare opportunity' to purchase building at Lock 17 of the historic Forth and Clyde Canal.

It reads: "A rare opportunity to purchase the former Underwood Lockhouse and carpark, situated at Lock 17 of the historic Forth and Clyde Canal.

"The subjects enjoy a charming setting overlooking the canal, lock gates and surrounding countryside.

A private carpark is also included

"The Lockhouse is situated on the north side of the canal with a pedestrian walkway to the private carpark situated immediately on the south side of the canal.

"Prior to fire damage, the Lockhouse was trading as a busy restaurant business and planning consent was renewed in 2021 for the associated demolition and replacement of the restaurant.

"It should be noted that retention of the original sandstone south facing facade, windows and quoins are a condition of the planning.

"The large carpark has vehicular access from the B816 Allandale to Bonnybridge road.

"Although currently commercial, the site would lend itself to residential use for the development of a unique canalside home, subject of course to obtaining change of use and relevant planning consents.

"The agents would expect broad market appeal from the commercial market, residential market, and those looking to combine both business and residential interests in one convenient, central location."
