Families are being invited to enjoy some bouncing action for free this Wednesday if they follow a simple rule.

In support of World Children's Day this Wednesday, Fun Shack Newcastle is offering free entry to youngsters - as long as they dress to impress.

The leisure attraction at Benfield is encouraging children to come along in When I Grow Up-theme costumes on November 20 in order to enjoy its facilities free of charge, saving on usual weekday prices of £6.49-£7.49.

And youngsters entering into the spirit of the occasion by dressing as what they would like to be when they are older will be able to enjoy the likes of Toon Town - the venue's latest play area - between 10am and 6.30pm.

Adults accompanying the children on Wednesday will pay the standard admission charge of £1.

Toon Town, which is all about role play and development for little ones, might even give them some new ideas as the area includes a green grocer; a café; boutique clothes shop; pizzeria, pet store and a fire station.

Aimed at children aged from one to eight years, it also has its own dress-up outfits and props. Ahead of Toon Town's opening, Fun Shack joined forces with businesses across the city - including shops in the Grainger Market and with Byker Community Fire station - so that toddlers could experience something of real-life daily routines.

Stuart Freeman, director at the Fun Shack Group, said there has been region-wide support to promote role play among the next generation and that research highlights its importance in a child’s development.

"We always strive to support this in our adventure play areas," he said. "Toon Town allows youngsters to learn the concepts of each store whilst the uniforms and dress-up allow the children to feel like real shop owners."

He added: “We’re delighted to support World Children’s Day by offering free entry to all children who visit us on November 20 dressed in When I Grow Up costumes."

The Benfield site also includes a Go -Kart Track, Rubber Ring and Volcano slides, a cannon ball cove, football court and a giant play frame.  See here .
