Girl, 15, and her friend ‘gang raped by eight men during Italian holiday’

A TEENAGER has described in court how she and a pal were brutally gang raped by eight men during a summer holiday in Italy.

The girl, 15, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was attacked with a friend of the same age at a party by a group of gate crashers.

Cops described their ordeal as ''brutal and extreme'' and they have been forced to miss the start of term so they could give evidence at the fast track trial.

In a closed door hearing lasting almost twelve hours on Saturday, one of the girls described what happened at the villa in Pisticci, southern Italy, earlier this month.

Both girls were in court at nearby Matera for the hearing and bravely identified eight of the men who appeared at the hearing.

One of the victims even had to spend her 16th birthday in Italy away from friends and family because of the hearing.

Tests have revealed both girls were drugged before the attack which lasted 15 minutes and ended with one of the victims biting an attacker.

Police later released CCTV footage which showed a group of men running away and one could be seen hobbling.

A source at the hearing told The Sun: ''Both girls showed determination and courage as they faced the men accused of attacking them.

''Only one spoke and she gave evidence for a long time and recounted the horror of what happened that night.''

Lawyer Giuseppe Rago, who is representing the girls, said:' 'Both of my clients quite clearly told the court they recognised their attackers.''

Four of the men are in custody while the others are on bail and all are aged between 19 and 23.

They are accused of sexual violence and wounding and all deny the charges insisting the girls consented.

Judge Angelo ONorati has adjourned the hearing until tomorrow when the second girl will give her evidence.
