Great British Bake Off star George Aristidou has slammed his online trolls after being bombarded with abuse following the latest episode.

George found himself in the bottom two this week, the Birmingham Mail reports.

According to judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, George was one of the worst bakers during Greek Week.

However, he was saved from the chop, and instead, Amanda was given the axe, prompting backlash online.

George shared on Instagram: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the kind-hearted people who are supporting ALL the bakers with true bake-off spirit!

“To the minority who feel it’s ok to privately message hateful opinions to make people feel bad about themselves is not cool.

“Can I just remind you it’s a baking show that we all auditioned for and you do not have to go out of your way to spread hate.”

He added the hashtags: “#bekind, #spreadlovenothate and #whodiedandmadeyouthejudge.”

Next week, presenting duo Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding will be peeling back the lid on caramel week, which will see the remaining bakers put their particular twist on a classic caramel tart in the famous Signature challenge.

They have to make a family favourite biscuit bar in the Technical test.

For the Showstopper, the hopefuls must create a one-of-a-kind dessert that is encased in a sugar dome.
