Two gunmen opened fire at a car in broad daylight and then fled the scene on a motorbike.

Merseyside Police were called to Park Street, in Toxteth , at around 4.45pm yesterday.

At the scene damage to a car consistent with a firearms discharge was located.

It is not known whether the car was parked or being driven at the time of the shooting.

However Merseyside Police did confirm that no-one was injured and enquiries to find those responsible are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Judith Blease said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in Park Street or the surrounding areas and may have witnessed the incident or the motorbike making off.

“The males riding the bike are described as wearing all black clothing, and the passenger riding pillion was carrying a bag.
