Kourtney Kardashian’s childhood nanny reveals why she’s surprised star finally found happiness with Travis Barker

KOURTNEY Kardashian’s childhood nanny has revealed her surprise that the reality star is engaged to tattooed rocker Travis Barker.

Travis, 45, proposed to Kourtney over the weekend on the beach surrounded by roses and candles in Montecito, California, after less than a year of dating.

Former nanny Pam Behan exclusively told The Sun that she hopes this new chapter means Kourtney has finally turned the page on the “turmoil” of her relationship with longtime partner Scott Disick.

Pam, 52, who spent eight years working with the Kardashians in the 1990s, said: “I am very happy for her.

“She's been through quite a lot but it seems that she may have actually found happiness at last.

“It kind of does surprise me that Kourtney went for someone like Travis.

“He has quite a few tattoos. The first time I saw him I was like ‘Wow, oh'”.

“I guess it just surprises me because I didn't think Kourtney would be attracted to that.

“Maybe it's not even that, maybe it's just his personality, maybe it's the way he treats her.

“Whatever it is, she seems happy and that's really all that matters.

“When she was growing up she had a boyfriend called Jeff who was a good kid but he was a pretty boy and very straight-laced, not a rebel at all.

Pam also reflected on Kourtney's tumultuous relationship with Scott which lasted from 2006 to 2015 and resulted in three children.

“Her relationship with Scott seemed like it was always turmoil and drama, drama, drama.

“I really hope that this is going to be the opposite, that she has found stability rather than constant drama.

“With all the gloom and doom that is going on at the moment, it’s just nice to see someone doing well and a happy story in the news for once.

“I just want Kourtney to be happy, that’s all that matters.”

Pam, who now works as a financial advisor and lives in Aberdeen, South Dakota, started working with the Kardashian kids in 1991.

She wrote about her experiences in the tell-all memoir Malibu Nanny and stayed in touch with Caitlyn Jenner until 2015.

She worked closely with the younger children, Khloe and Rob, but also got to see first hand how Kourtney struggled with the divorce of her parents Kris and Robert.

Mom-of-one Pam said: “Kourtney was 12 when I started working with the family and to be honest with you, the first few years were very difficult for her.

“Being the oldest, Kourtney was very, very close to her dad and she was not crazy about Bruce (now Caitlyn, Jenner), not happy about her mom remarrying.

“It was just a very hard time for her, those teen years are very hard anyway, lots of changes.

“So the first few years she was just not a real happy kid but she was always polite, she never talked back, she treated me with respect, brought her dishes to the sink - she was a good kid.

“She was the oldest sibling and a good role model for her younger siblings.

“I’ve often thought that when I’ve watched the show or seen them in the news, that she always seems to be the most responsible one.

“Sometimes the oldest one has a lot of pressure on them to take that role but right now she seems the most carefree and like she's just letting her hair down and I am just really happy for her.”

Pam added that the mom-of-three is likely to be careful as she goes forward in her relationship with Travis for the sake of her kids.

The brunette shares sons Mason, 11, and Reign, 6, and daughter Penelope, 9, with ex Scott, who she spent a decade in an on-again off-again relationship with.

Pam said: “My guess is that since she took the divorce of her own parents so hard, Kourtney will be mindful that bringing a new man in might be hard for her own kids as well.”
