Liverpool news and transfers LIVE – Salah injury mystery

Havertz makes future decision

Kai Havertz has chosen Real Madrid as his preferred destination should he leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

He is keen on a switch to the Bernabeu because it would allow him a chance to play alongside his idol Toni Kroos, reports Sportbuzzer.

Liverpool are one of a number of sides who have been heavily linked with the Germany international, but never looked like firming up reported interest this summer.

UEFA make transfer window recommendation

UEFA has advised that the 2020 summer transfer window should close no later than October 5.

The transfer registration period in a number of European countries, including England, has not yet opened because of the delay in finishing the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

European football's governing body has set October 6 as the deadline for the registration of players to compete in the Champions League and Europa League group phase, and has therefore recommended that the transfer window close the day before.

Coutinho claim

A return to Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho is admittedly unlikely.

But there is one possible scenario which could see it become a possibility.

According to The Athletic's James Pearce, the Reds' only chance of re-signing him would be if Barcelona dropped their valuation to an affordable package.

"I honestly don't see it happening," Pearce said on the Red Agenda Podcast, cited by the Express.

"I just think it doesn't make sense.

"I think the only glimmer is that if a deal dropped to such a low level financially with Barcelona willing to effectively subsidise his wages.

"I think people have such short memories of about how much of a stink he kicked up in terms of a transfer request on the eve of a new season.

"That is pretty damning on what his attitude was like around the place and shows just how desperate he was to get away.

"It just wouldn't make sense to me, I think Liverpool have moved on without Coutinho.

"They've evolved as a team and are certainly a lot less predictable without him.

"I would be absolutely amazed if it happened."

So yeah, don't bank on it.

Liverpool's wait goes on

So Liverpool didn't get any favours from Arsenal last night as they lost 3-0 to Manchester City.

It leaves the Reds 22 points clear at the top of the table, needing two wins to the clinch the title and unable to do it at Goodison.

Keita linked with shock Reds exit

Naby Keita is being linked with a shock move away from Liverpool.

According to MilanLive, Keita could leave the Reds this summer, with AC Milan interested in the midfielder.

The report also states that the Reds are interested in bringing in Wolves star Ruben Neves as a replacement, should Keita depart for Milan.

Let’s get to it!

LFC fans have Premier League title message for David Luiz

Liverpool will not be able to secure their long-awaited Premier League title victory this weekend after all.

If Manchester City had lost to Arsenal yesterday, then the Reds would have been able to wrap up the title with a win over local rivals Everton this weekend.

But with Man City’s comprehensive victory over the Gunners, it means Liverpool still need just six points to guarantee the trophy heads to Anfield.

The earliest the Reds can now win the league is at home to Crystal Palace in June 24.

Arsenal made a bright start to the match at the Etihad, but the game changed when Pablo Mari picked up an injury and was replaced by David Luiz.

In just 25 minutes, Luiz managed to make an error leading Raheem Sterling’s opening goal, as well as giving away a penalty which caused him to be sent off by referee Anthony Taylor.

Liverpool fans took to social media to send a title message to the Arsenal defender, here is a selection of what they had to say.
