Geordie Love Island star Ellie Brown has opened up about the extreme lengths she went to for the show, which included starving herself for days before she went on.
As the new series of the ITV programme starts, with the new Love Island lineup now in their luxury South African villa, Ellie, 21, has revealed the strict regime she adopted before joining series 4 as a late arrival.
She told The Sun : "'I practically starved myself going into the villa — eating nothing but fish and vegetables for months and spending hours sweating away in the gym each day, for two months, I spent two-and-a-half hours a day in the gym.
'I looked amazing, but that diet really isn’t sustainable. I’d end some days completely exhausted because my body wasn’t getting all the nutrients it — and, of course, the meals became SO boring."
Ellie who will be back on TV in the lineup for Celebrity Ex on the Beach, which starts later this month, said that the pressure she felt to look good didn't come from Love Island bosses, more so from herself as she was worried what viewers would have to say about her appearance, but added that after putting on "around a stone" since her stint on the show is "perfectly happy" despite being criticised for her weight gain by online trolls.
The new series of Love Island premiered on ITV2 on Sunday night with a bombshell twist which will put two Islanders at risk of being dumped already, following the entrance of late arrivals Eve ad Jess Gale , who just so happy to be identical twins.
