A multi-vehicle collision on the M6 caused traffic chaos as motorists sat through nearly 13 miles of tailbacks.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.30pm this afternoon (October 13).

The incident occurred close to Broughton Interchange, between junctions 33 and 32.

All lanes of the motorway did not repoen until roughly 5pm, by which time there were between 10 and 13 miles of tailbacks stretching all the way to the River Wye.

Emergency services rushed to the scene although there were no serious injuries

According to Highways England, the congestion took so long to clear because three lanes of traffic were forced "to squeeze into one lane past the scene".

Although ambulances were on the scene, there were no serious injuries in the collision.
