A young man has been left in a serious condition after being attacked outside a club in Rochdale.
Emergency services were called to Empire Rochdale on Packer Street just after midnight on Saturday.
The victim, who is 29, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
Detectives say he is still undergoing treatment, describing his condition as serious but not life-threatening at this time.
An investigation was launched, and a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.
He is currently being questioned by officers.
Police believe a number of people may have witnessed the incident, as well as several who helped the victim after he was assaulted.
They say they need to speak to this people as a 'matter of urgency'.
GMP said: "A man has been hospitalised after being assaulted outside a night club in Rochdale.
"Police received a report that a man had been assaulted outside The Empire Nightclub on Packer Street at 12.10am on Saturday.
