Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for the Newcastle midfielder, Sean Longstaff, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a first full season in charge at Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old, who has made 13 senior appearances for Newcastle, is reportedly on Solskjaer's list of transfer targets along with Daniel James of Swansea and Declan Rice of West Ham.
Paulo Dybala has dismissed reports that he could leave Juventus amid interest from United, while the Reds have reportedly identified Norwich City's Stuart Webber as a candidate for the vacant technical director role.
Meanwhile, Lyon forward Moussa Dembele is reported to be the subject of United interest. The former Celtic striker, 22, scored 23 goals in 51 appearances in his first season in Ligue 1. Everton forward Richarlison has also been linked — though it's claimed United will have to pay more than £100million for the Brazilian.
We'll bring you all the latest United news throughout the day.
New technical director candidate?
Manchester United are considering Norwich City director of football Stuart Webber to fill their technical director vacancy, according to reports.
The Sun reports that Webber, who helped mastermind the Canaries’ return to the Premier League, is in the frame for the job at United which will be vital to overseeing the rebuild needed right now.
MEN Sport understands United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is putting together a transfer committee which, it is reported, Webber will sit on, along with some former players.
Joao Felix gives update on his future
Benfica starlet Joao Felix will let “things happen naturally” over his future as he continues to be linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United.
Felix insists he’s happy playing for the club after his breakthrough season and will not rush into a decision over his future.
“I think that time will tell. I’m good here, I’m very happy, I love the club,” he told Benfica’s official website .
Puigmal's role in Spain's Slovakia Cup win
Spain beat England to the Slovakia Cup yesterday, with United youngster Arnau Puigmal playing a starring role in the final.
Dias 'set to sign new contract'
United remain interested in Ruben Dias, according to a report in Portugal, but the defender is said to be close to finalising a new deal at Benfica.
A Bola say Dias is on the verge of signing a new contract that would almost double his release clause from €60m to €100m.
Mourinho's next move
Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted he remains unsure about his next managerial move, despite being linked to the vacant Juventus job.
“I don’t know, honestly I don’t know. The only thing that I know is that I cannot be emotional.
“I have to be rational. I have not to choose just because I want to work and I am desperate to work - I have to choose because it is the right project for me, the right motivation for me.
“I want to become stronger than ever. I’m studying a lot, I am working a lot with my staff to be a great team as a coaching staff and to be ready to do it again big.
“So, I have to think. We will think and analyse and make the right decision.”
Real rejected in race for Koulibaly
Real Madrid have reportedly made a £79million bid for Manchester United transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to beIN Sports reporter Tancredi Palmeri, Los Blancos have been knocked back after their offer for the Napoli defender.
United are understood to be keen on Koulibaly but they seemingly face a battle with Madrid and Napoli’s defiance when seeking to get the centre-back on board.
Oh what a night
It’s the Manchester United v Bayern Munich Treble Reunion match tomorrow, by the way.
United urged to sign Grealish
Read them in full here. He says he’d rather United sign Grealish than Daniel James or Sean Longstaff, both of whom they’ve been heavily linked with.
Joao Felix blow for United?
United have been linked with Benfica starlet Joao Felix but does this statement - insiting he won’t leave the Portuguese club for anything less than his £105million release clause - make such a move impossible?
This is what was said by Benfica executive manager Domingos Soares de Oliveira:
“The goal is to keep the squad. If someone hits €100m (£88m) for Felix, the intention is not to sell.
“€100m is a lot of money, there has never been a player sold for that amount in Portugal, but the goal is to win on the pitch and we will do everything in that direction.
“Today, if they do not beat the €120m (£105m), the player stays.”
The De Ligt question
An interesting thread here on Matthjis De Ligt, whether United can persuade him to join from Ajax and the exits needed to free up a space.
United linked with Betis full-back
Real Betis full-back Junior Firpo has been linked with a Manchester United move in the past and now Spanish media outlet AS report that his club has been ‘dealing’ with United over a summer move.
It’s claimed that the Reds are willing to pay €25-30m for the 22-year-old left-back.
Firpo is set to represent Spain in this summer’s U21 championship.
Poole in Newport side
Manchester United loanee Regan Poole has been named in the Newport County side to play Tranmere in today’s League Two play-off final.
Rashford and Lingard on England duty
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have both been put through their paces by England’s coaching staff ahead of the Nations League finals.
A question for United fans
Amid ongoing links between Manchester United and Moussa Dembele, we pose the following poll:
City interest in Rashford...?
A very strange report by Metro today claims that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is of interest to fierce rivals Man City.
The report claims that Rashford’s camp are using City’s apparent interest as leverage in the striker’s United contract talks which are currently ongoing.
United fans sing that he’s ‘Manc born and bred’, so surely this would be a stretch by anyone’s imagination.
Bale's former boss on Welshman's future
Andre Villas Boas managed Gareth Bale during his purple patch at Tottenham.
And now amid rumours that the Welshman could put an end to his recent Real Madrid misery - having been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United - the Portuguese has had his say on Bale’s future.
This is what he told Omnisport:
“I have no idea what he wants to do.
He was extremely successful at Real Madrid. He left Tottenham to chase trophies and achieved that immediately, scoring in Champions League finals.
“Of course, at the moment, there’s a lot of bad noise surrounding him. A lot of criticism, (there is) probably not a lot of confidence from the coach right now.
“It looks more likely that he’s going to leave and you would expect him to go to England now.”
'Fergie excited by Daniel James signing'
With Manchester United closing in on the signing of Swansea’s Daniel James, it has been claimed Reds legend Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan of the player.
According to Football Insider an Old Trafford source said: “Sir Alex is a massive admirer of Dan James and convinced he is destined for big things,” the source said. “He would never say that publicly and put too much pressure on him but he has been impressed by the kid.
“He doesn’t get too involved in our recruitment but he’s certainly excited by the signing of Dan James.”
United linked with Leipzig defender
Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been linked with a possible transfer for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.
Konate is just 19 and has impressed in 42 Bundesliga appearances in the past season, prompting links in French media.
What is going on here with the former Manchester United player?
Make of it what you will...
Shaw going hard in pre-season
Good to see this from Luke Shaw, clearly putting in the hard yards ahead of a big season next term for Manchester United.
Although some Manchester United fans greeted a recent Instagram post by James Wilson with somewhat desperate pleas for him to return to Old Trafford, the accepted view is that his imminent departure is neither a surprise nor something to mourn.
Wilson’s United career would never get better than his two-goal debut against Hull City in a 2014 season-ending dead rubber.
Yet his departure from the club five years after - and following numerous unsuccessful loan spells - might be a warning to current United wonderkid Mason Greenwood, who also made his first team debut in an end of season game. The Reds cannot afford a repeat of the Wilson situation with Greenwood.
Yorke looks ahead to treble game
Remember the Treble Reunion anniversary match between United and Bayern Munich legends takes place at Old Trafford tomorrow.
Dwight Yorke has been looking ahead - and looking back:
“This will bring back the memories of a lifetime.
“A unique bunch of players will be able to celebrate probably the greatest achievement in the history of Manchester United Football Club.
”The gaffer [Sir Alex] will love being out there and we, as players, will love to be led out again by the great man.
“It will be a magnificent day for us all; a day full of memories and joy.”
A De Gea replacement?
Manchester United are reportedly targeting a goalkeeper to replace David De Gea with contract talks stalling with the Spaniard.
Portuguese media outlet Record have claimed that Benfica’s Greek goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos is on United’s radar in case De Gea moves on this summer.
United want to keep De Gea, but could this be a contingency plan if he leaves?
Manchester United 'keen on £100m Richarilson'
Everton forward Richarlison is a transfer target for Manchester United, though they will have to pay £100million to sign him - all that is according to The Sun.
Barcelona have also been named as potential suitors for the Brazilian, who was named in his country’s Copa America squad this weke.
That fee may put United off, though the report claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ‘have been put on red alert’ over Richarlison.
Wilder confident of Henderson stay
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is confident that Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will extend his stay at Bramall Lane.
Henderson impressed to help the Blades win promotion last season and, as the MEN revealed, has held talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his future.
This is what Wilder said:
“We’ve been in discussions with Manchester United and I think they see it as a positive that he gets a year of Premier League football under his belt.
“I know Dean definitely wants to stop and our supporters absolutely adore him.
“We’ve got a good relationship with Manchester United and if Dean signs we’ll be delighted.”
United loanee in play-off final action
Manchester United loanee Regan Poole is very likely to start in the League Two play-off final for Tranmere against Newport County today.
MEN Sport understands Poole will be released by United at the expiry of his contract next month, but for now has a huge game to focus on.
Claims have been made in Spanish media over the past 24 hours that Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in Real Madrid stalwart Sergio Ramos.
Marca and El Chiringuito have reported that Ramos could leave after talks with Real president Florentino Perez., with AS naming United and Liverpool as interested parties. Juventus have also been linked.
A potential solution for the Reds at centre back? Or a power play by the Spaniard to secure another new deal? United fans are dubious...
Celtic sell-on fee
Reports from our sister site Football.Scotland claim that Celtic would be due to £4million sell-on fee if, as claimed, Manchester United pay £40million for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele.
United have been heavily linked with the former Celtic and Fulham striker, who has thrived for the Ligue 1 outfit in the past season.
