Mark Wright shares sweet snap with lookalike granddad as he celebrates his 88th birthday

MARK Wright hailed his grandfather a "hero" as the pair raised a glass to his 88th birthday.

The proud ex TOWIE star flashed a beaming smile as he shared a pint with his relative on his special day.

The adorable selfie, posted to Mark's Instagram page, saw the duo sat inside a pub with birthday boy Eddie in a smart checked blazer and white shirt.

He flashed a grin to the camera as he held up his drink.

In the caption alongside Mark, 33, wrote: "Our hero turned 88 today…. our grandad is the man !! Love you always pal 💙."

Another posted: "Lovely photo, one to treasure I think."

One then added a touching personal comment and put: "Lovely man - met him a few times at the Den when he watched Josh play, such a gentleman and a very proud Grandad x"

Another then gushed: "Wow what a good looking Grandad 😍."

An Instagram follower then surmised: "You are SO lucky to still have a Grandad. 15 years I’ve missed mine I would do anything to have those times again."

The celebrations will no doubt be extra special for Mark, who emotionally revealed just how much he had been missing Eddie during the height of lockdown, when they were unable to see each other.

In May, he became emotional on his Heart radio show as he read out emotional messages to National Health Service frontline workers.

It was at this point his emotions overcame him: "Oh god this has got me, I'm so sorry guys, that's just emotional. 8 o'clock tonight we're clapping for our heroes, remember that.

Meanwhile Eddie, a former paramedic, is no stranger to TV fame himself, after starring in BBC series, Who Do You Think You Are? alongside Mark.

The Extra TV host spoke fondly of his grandfather, sitting alongside him, and told a previous episode of This Morning: "He's done so much for our family,.

"He is our king, and the best granddad you could ever have."
