A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after colliding with a car in Northumberland.
The man was flown to hospital by an air ambulance on Saturday with head and arm injuries following the crash near Morpeth.
The A697 is expected to remain closed for until the early evening while investigations are carried out.
Emergency services were called to the road, close to Dobbies Garden Centre, shortly after noon.
The motorcyclist was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Police, ambulance and the fire service attended and the road was closed to assist with treating the casualty and examining the scene.
“Local diversions were put in place and are still in place.
“We’d like to thank the public for their patience.
“The rider of the motorcycle has been taken by air ambulance to the RVI with what are being described as serious injuries.
“The road is expected to be closed for potentially another two hours, if not longer, to allow for further examinations at the scene.
“We are making efforts to reopen the road as soon as possible.”
